How To Pray And Live A Holy Life.
Jesus Said;" Blessed is he who
comes in
the name of the Lord."
(Matt 23:39)
Prayer is a multifaceted
communication between believers
and their Lord Jesus.
The Reasons For Prayer
Prayer is
necessary in order to communicate
and or to fellowship directly with God.
1.
Believers are commanded by God to pray (fellowship)
(1Ch
16:11; Ps 105:4; Isa 55:6; Am 5:4,6; Eph 6:17-18; Col 4:2; 1Th 5:17; Mt 26:41;
Lk 18:1; Jn 16:24)
2. Prayer is the key to receiving God's blessings and the promise of the
fulfillment of the
Holy Spirit.
(Lk
11:5-13; Ac 1:8, 1:14, 2:1-4, 4:31; Ro 15:30-32; 2Co 1:11; Eph 6:18-20; Php
1:19; Col 4:3-4; Jas 5:14-15)
3. Their are many things that will not be accomplished in God's kingdom
without
the
intercessory prayers of believers. God's plan in
salvation
is for believers to
be co-workers in his kingdom.
(Mt 9:38)
The 9 Requirements
of Effective Praying
(Several conditions
must be met for our prayers to be effective.)
1. You
must genuinely praise and adore God.
"Everything
is possible for him who believes"
Matt
9:23 also
see (Ps 150; Mk 9:23, 11:24; Ac 2:47; Ro 15:11; Heb 10:22; Jas1:6)
2.
You
must sincerely confess your each and every known sin to God daily.
"If
we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to
cleanse us from
all unrighteousness."
1Jn 1:9 also
see ( Jas 5:15-16; Ps 51; Lk 18:13; 1Jn 1:9)
3.
Our prayers must be addressed directly to Jesus.
"And whatever request you make in my
name, that I will do, so that the Father may have glory in the Son."
Jn 14:13
4.
Prayer can only be effective if it serves God's will and his kingdom.
"And
we are certain that if we make any request to him which is right in his eyes, he
will give ear to us:"
1Jn 5:14 also see (1Ki 18:1,
18:21-24; Mt 6:10; Lk 11:2)
5. We
must seek God's will and must be living within God's will if we seek a
relationship
with God.
"But
seek ye first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be
added unto you."
(Mt 6:33) also see (Exo 26:33, 33:17;Ps 34:13-14,
66:18; Lk 18:14; 2Ch 6:36-39, 7:14; 1Jn 3:22; Jas 4:3, 5:16-18)
6.
We need to be persistent in prayer. "pray
without ceasing;"
1Thess 5:17 also see (Exo 17:11; 1Ki 17:17-23,
18:41-45; Mt7:7-8; Lk 18:1-7; Col 4:2; 1Th 5:17)
A)
We need to pray many times per day and everyday.
B) We should pray even
at times when prayer is not desirable.
C) Never be ashamed to
pray to Jesus anywhere or at anytime.
D) Prayer is not an option, but a requirement by Jesus our Lord
and Savior.
E) We should be praying
for our: government, states, towns, schools, churches, law enforcement, medical
services, neighbors, family, friends, missionaries,
the world, and for
the evil in the world.
7.
We need to give thanksgiving to God.
"Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, And into his courts with praise:
Give thanks unto him, and bless
his name." (Ps 100:4)
also see (Mt 11:25-26; Php 4:6)
A) We need to give thanks to
God for our: food, family, health, home, money to pay bills, employment,
warmth, love, God's mercy, salvation,
deliverance from evil, peace, protection,
and our blessed life.
8.
We need to ask according to our needs.
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be
opened unto you: for
every one that ask will receive it and
he that seek it will find it and to him that
knock it shall be opened.
Or what man is there of you, who, if his son
shall ask him for a loaf, will give him a stone; or if he shall
ask for a fish, will give him a serpent?
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your
children, how much more shall your Father who is in
heaven give good things to them that ask him?
(Mt 7:7-11) also see (Ps 27:7-12; Jas 4:2-3; Mt 7:7-11; Php
4:6)
9. We
need to pray for others; the saved, the unsaved, the sick, the hurt, the evil,
the lost,
and even those we do not know.
Simon,
Simon, Satan has made a request to have you, so that he may put you to the test
as grain is
tested: But I have made prayer for you, that your faith may not
go from you: and when you are turned
again, make your brothers strong. (Lk 22:31-32) also see (Nu
14:13-19; Ps 122:6-9; Lk 23:34; James 5:13-15)

What Should I
Be Praying For?
1. First thing you
should pray for is God's name remains holy and that God's will to be
done on earth as it is done in heaven.
After
this manner therefore pray ye. Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy
name. Thy kingdom
come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so on
earth. (Mt 6: 9-10; Also Lk 11:2)
2. Thank God for all
the blessings he given on to you. (Especially for Salvation)
3. Thank God for
providing you with your daily provisions.
(Examples:
food, housing, health, employment, gifts, money to pay bills, your blessed life,
etc.)
Give
us this day our daily bread. (Mt 6:11)
4. Thank God
for forgiving us our sins (Repent).
And
forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. (Mt 6:12)
5. Ask God to keep us
from temptation (sins), and all evil.
And bring us
not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil `one.' (Mt 6:13)
6. Ask for healing for
a mental or physical illness or condition.
Note:
It can be for anyone.
7. Ask God to speak to
your heart and soul concerning what your role is here on
earth towards the fulfillment of God's will.
8. Ask God for guidance
to any questions you have and (or) with a problem you are
currently facing.
9. Pray for your brothers and sisters
in Christ. Also pray for the people of the world, the church,
the governments, and for authority figures for God's blessing
and for God's will to be done.
